Remembering Gustav Buesing...

While the Media Centre was packed full of international journalists from around the world, one valued member of this particular community was sadly missing.

Long-time journalist, broadcaster for Eurosport, and a former press officer at the Nürburgring, Gustav Büsing died just after the 24 Hours of Le Mans following a heart attack.

The tall, bearded and immensely popular German was honoured by his many friends and former colleagues this weekend in Germany, with the Nürburgring unveiling a special plaque to recognise Gustav’s great contribution to motorsport in general and to endurance racing in particular.

WEC CEO Gérard Neveu paid tribute to Gustav on behalf of the entire paddock, noting that he died at the place he loved best, doing the job he loved best, and that the blue skies and sunshine over the Nürburgring this weekend were surely a reflection of the smile Gustav would have had if he were still with us.
