Quadruple champion de NBA, double champion olympique, meilleur marqueur de l'histoire de la NBA... LeBron James sera le Starter officiel du Centenaire des 24 Heures du Mans. Il donnera le départ de la course ce samedi 10 juin, à 16h.

This Saturday June 10, at 4 p.m., the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the 4th round of the FIA World Endurance Championship, will celebrate its Centenary. In front of full stands, following the historic success of the ticket office, the biggest endurance race in the world will celebrate one hundred years of history, innovations and popular celebration.

For this world event, the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO) has the privilege of welcoming one of the greatest sportsmen in history. LeBron James, legendary American basketball player and philanthropist, will start the 62 competitors in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Every year since 1949, the ACO has entrusted a personality with the task of lowering the tricolor flag at the start. We can cite pell-mell Brad Pitt (2016), Rafael Nadal (2018), Alain Delon (1996), but also Georges Pompidou (1972) or Steve McQueen (1971).

Pierre Fillon, president of the Automobile Club de l'Ouest : "I am delighted to welcome LeBron James on the occasion of the Centenary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and thank him very sincerely for accepting the role of Starter. The 24 Hours of Le Mans is known throughout the world and has, in its history, always welcomed big names from all walks of life. LeBron James is a true sporting legend and has a list of awards and records that command admiration. We look forward to introducing him to the unique atmosphere that reigns on the circuit and the enthusiasm aroused by the Centenary of the greatest endurance race in the world."

LeBron James : "There is nothing like seeing and experiencing the sport at its highest level. It is an honor for me to be part of this historic moment in motorsport and to contribute to the celebration of the centenary of the "one of the biggest sporting events in the world. I can't wait to get this iconic race started and see the world-class drivers compete on the iconic Le Mans circuit."
