6 Hours of Silverstone: Widespread TV coverage across the world

The amazing 2018 British summer is due to hang around for a little while longer and shine over Silverstone Circuit in the UK for the third round of the FIA World Endurance Championship on Sunday 19th August and spectators can expect another exciting and action-packed race from the world’s premier endurance racing championship.

Europe
For this first round since the 24 Hours of Le Mans, there is once again extensive pan-European coverage via Eurosport (plus Eurosport Player) and Motorsport.tv which will continue to show all races live. The presence of Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button has attracted new fans to endurance racing across the globe, and there are plenty of ways they can see the races.

Most importantly for local fans, Britain’s BT Sport channel will show the full race live to its 15 million potential viewers.  The race will also be broadcast LIVE in Denmark (TV2 Sport), France (La Chaine L’Equipe), Germany (Sport1), Netherlands (Ziggo Sport), Norway/Sweden/Finland (Viasat Sport), Poland (Polsat), Spain (Discovery Max) – check the TV distribution list for exact timings.  The combined reach of the free-to-air French and German markets alone is 130 million people.

Highlights of the 6-hour race will also be broadcast in the Netherlands, Belgium, Turkey and the Baltic states.

Asia Pacific 
As well as J Sports’s full live race coverage in Japan, and delayed highlights being shown to the 110 million viewers on BS Fuji’s channel, the WEC coverage has continued to grow in China with Sina.com and Tencent both showing the full race and qualifying live.  The free CCTV channel will importantly show news edits of the British race to its potential 1 billion viewers. 

The 6 Hours of Silverstone will also air live on Eurosport across the Asia-Pacific region, including of course Australia, plus highlights from Fox Sports across the Asian Pacific region.  Sky in New Zealand will broadcast live and highlights – the WEC truly reaching the far reaches of the globe.

The Americas
Velocity and Motor Trend in North America continue to bring new focus and new TV fans to the WEC and their 214 million potential reach combines with Fox International’s equally impressive 59 million reach in Latin America which will show the British race live.  

Africa and Middle East
There will be coverage of the Silverstone race on BEIN Sports through its Middle East and North African regions, supplementing SuperSport’s Pan Africa highlights of the WEC event.

Internet/OTT Mobile Broadcasts
Commentary in English will be available worldwide on all live transmissions and official WEC highlights shows, with multiple 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Allan McNish giving his expert insights on FIA WEC. The 2013 World Endurance Champion will be joined by Martin Haven, with additional support from Graham Goodwin and Louise Beckett.
