6H COTA: 4 Hour update – Rebellion and Aston Martin still on top
Below are the main headlines following four hours of race action at the Lone Star Le Mans at COTA, round 5 of FIA WEC.
LMP1
- With just two hours to go at the WEC 6 Hours of COTA, Rebellion Racing continue to lead top tier LMP1 class by 30 seconds as Norman Nato completes second stint in the Rebellion R13 Gibson car
- All LMP1 teams have successfully pitted for the fifth time
- No. 7 Toyota Gazoo Racing car leads the No. 8 Toyota TS050 HYBRID by more than a lap

LMGTE Pro
- Aston Martin Racing continues to dominate with the No.95 of Marco Sorensen 22s ahead of Maxime Martin in the No.97 Aston Martin Vantage AMR
- In third place and fourth places respectively are the No.92 and No.91 of the Porsche GT team, with Kevin Estre in third having profited from his newer tyres to pass his team-mate
- The two AF Corse Ferraris are fifth and sixth with the No.51 488 GTE EVO having held third for much of the first half of the race. Only 0.3s behind the Porsche, Pier Guidi in the Ferrari is pushing hard
- Corvette Racing is lapping well but struggling to match its competitors on straight line speed
LMP2
- Battle for LMP2 supremacy continues to rage as No. 22 United Autosports entry driven by Filipe Albuquerque leads 9-car field
- Second is No. 37 Jackie Chan DC Racing entry driven by Gabriel Aubry
- No. 29 Racing Team Nederland car third as Frits Van Eerd takes back control at the wheel from team-mate Nyck De Vries
LMGTE Am
- TF Sport’s No. 90 Aston Martin Vantage AMR took the class lead after 3h 39 minutes in the hands of Jonny Adam. He displaced Egidio Perfetti’s No.56 Team Project 1 Porsche from the top of the class for the first time in the race.
- Adam had a great battle with fellow Aston Martin factory driver Darren Turner who held second in the category until the latest round of pit stops
- Third was the No. 56 Team Project 1 Porsche, although its sister car – that of local Texan driver Ben Keating – was delayed for 20 minutes in the pits with a gearbox issue
