Alpine confirms composition of Hypercar crews
Alpine Endurance Team has confirmed the composition of its two Hypercar crews that will contest the forthcoming FIA World Endurance Championship campaign.
Less than a week after offering the first glimpse of the A424’s 2025 livery, the French manufacturer has released further fresh images of the car that conquered its maiden podium finish in FIA WEC competition in the 6 Hours of Fuji last September – with those points ultimately proving crucial to securing Alpine fourth spot in the final Manufacturers’ standings.
The #35 entry will be piloted by Paul-Loup Chatin, Charles Milesi and Ferdinand Habsburg – all of whom competed for the team last season – with the sister #36 machine to be shared by the returning Mick Schumacher and Jules Gounon alongside new recruit Frédéric Makowiecki, as the experienced Frenchman makes the switch from Porsche.
“I want to thank Alpine for its continued confidence in 2025,” said two-time European Le Mans Series title-winner Chatin, a former podium-finisher in-class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. “I’m looking forward to the first race to see where we stand with all the experience gained in 2024. We’ve had a year of learning in which we perfected and improved our car throughout the season. We hope our efforts will bear fruit, and Qatar will be the first litmus test.”
“I’m delighted to remain part of the Alpine endurance adventure,” added Schumacher, who quickly adapted to prototype racing in 2024 and played a pivotal role in the team’s breakthrough rostrum result in Japan with a stirring late-race charge.
“We had a great first year together, and I’m determined to help ensure the performance of the programme is even better this year. We have defined a few points where we want to attack, and I’m really looking forward to my second endurance season.”
Alpine will take to the track in 2025 under the leadership of Alpine Motorsports Vice-President Bruno Famin, while Team Principal Philippe Sinault and Sporting Director Nicolas Lapierre both have three Le Mans victories to their credit, as well as two world titles for the brand in LMP2.
The eight-round campaign – the A424’s second at the discipline’s highest level – will get underway with the curtain-raising Qatar 1812km on 28 February, preceded by the traditional ‘Prologue’ group test at the same circuit on 21-22 February.
