FP2 Imola: Fuoco Fastest for Ferrari; GT3 sees TF Sport Corvette again lead the way

Below are the main headlines from the second free practice session at the FIA WEC 6 Hours of Imola.

Ferrari AF Corse top the times in the second free practice session at Imola with the No.50 Ferrari 499 Hypercar leading the bumper 19 car Hypercar field

Antonio Fuoco sets an early flyer of 1m30.957s to outpace the No.6 Porsche Penske driven by Kevin Estre. The French sets a time 0.342s off Fuoco’s best tour

A late surge from Robert Shwartzman sees the FP1 pace setting Ferrari 499P run by AF Corse place third and just 0.032s off the second placed Porsche

The No.8 Toyota Gazoo Racing GR010 Hypercar makes it four OEM’s in the top four as Brendon Hartley pushes the Japanese manufacturer up the order after a lowly FP1 placing. The Kiwi peaks on a 1m31.729s before handing over to teammate Sebastien Buemi.

No.12 Hertz Team Jota ends session in fifth place as Callum IIott continues his impressive Hypercar rookie form in customer Porsche 963. He sets a best of 1m32.300

Peugeot TotalEnergies take sixth position with the new-look No.94 9X8. Stoffel Vandoorne sets time and places just ahead of the No.36 Alpine Endurance Team A424 Hypercar, time set by Mick Schumacher

Peugeot make it two cars in the top eight positions with the No.93 9X8 heading the No.51Ferrari AF Corse 499P. Jean-Eric Vergne and James Calado the quickest laps

Raffaele Marciello in the No.15 BMW M Team Hypercar ensures the Bavarian marque sneaks in to the top ten as the Italian sets a last minute 1m32.684s best

LMGT3

TF Sport again placed 1-2 again until the final moments of the session as the No.81 car headed the No.82 Corvette ZO6 by 0.2s. Charlie Eastwood and Daniel Juncadella again set the times as American muscle starts to look strong in Italy.

But a flying lap by Alessio Rovera sees the No.55 VISTA AF Corse car be the fastest Prancing Horse in LMGT3 and split the Corvettes.

Heart of Racing takes fourth place as Alex Riberas peaks with a 1m42.530s best lap in American entered Vantage LMGT3

The Spaniard’s time is just 0.14s quicker than Davide Rigon in the No.54 VISTA AF Corse Ferrari 296 LMGT3 that he shares with Thomas Flohr and Francesco Castellacci as they place fifth

Completing the top six is the D’Station Aston Martin which sees Marco Sorensen set the time in the Vantage LMGT3 car he shares with Clement Mateu and Erwan Bastard

Session sees a brief red flag for to recover the beached No.82 TF Sport Corvette of Hiroshi Koizumi

The final Free Practice session is scheduled to start at 11.00 local time on Saturday morning
