Fun and Education for Kids WEC Fuji Paddock Visit
Kids are the future of motorsport. To keep a well-received and important tradition alive, the FIA World Endurance Championship welcomed a group of curious children to Fuji Speedway on Thursday morning to learn more about the WEC.
From the Meirin Elementary School in Oyama Town, the 10 and 11-year-olds were given a special tour of the WEC paddock. This included a visit to scrutineering and also a chance to see inside several teams’ garages.
With both WEC and team staff on-hand to give a valuable insight into how the championship works, the children gained knowledge of the professionalism that runs through the paddock.
Toyota Gazoo Racing’s Kamui Kobayashi, BMW Team MTEK driver Martin Tomczyk and Rebellion Racing’s Neel Jani all engaged with the kids and posed for special souvenir photos.
There was also a chance to meet the new championship mascot ‘WEC Man’ and the kids went away with a WEC goody bag each and a host of fun and interesting memories to inspire their futures.
