What the Drivers Said after Qualifying at Spa

Read the opinions of the pole winning drivers after a dramatic qualifying session at Spa....

Hypercar Pole-Sitter: Oliver Pla, No.708 Glickenhaus Racing

“I think it's fantastic and I'm really happy for team, as they’ve put a lot of faith in us to be there.

“Fighting against Toyota, it's always good so I have to give a lot of credit to Jim  (Glickenhaus) and the team, to Podium (Advanced Technologies), Pipo Engines and to Joest.

They did an amazing job since the beginning, we have a very low budget, so it's always good to it's great to be there.

“It's good to be on pole and you have taken it when you take it, and we did.”

LMGTE Pro Pole-Sitter: Gianmaria Bruni, No.91 Porsche GT Team

“The track changed quite compared to the last free practice and it took me a while to get used to.

“Then on the last lap I tried to be clean but the first few laps the car was sliding everywhere, and I was pushing too much.

“Then I tried to do the lap driving in a good way and it was enough to take P1. I mean we set up the car quite good and we had good engineering with the Manthey guys, so it was really good.

“We'll see what tomorrow the weather will do if it rains or if it rains and when but we're here at Spa!”

LMP2 Pole-sitter: Alessio Rovera, No.83 AF Corse

“It was a really good lap, but I have to say that with the first set of tyres I had some problems.

“I did a mistake in T7 and so with the second set I had to give everything and try to close out a good lap and it was a really good job.

“I have to say the team did an amazing job because it is the first time here in Spa with LMP2 for us. We had just the free practice to set up the car and the car was just amazing, and I just had to push.”

LMGTE Am: Ben Keating, No.33 TF Sport Aston Martin

“I think the three Porsche Cup races that happened before qualifying really changed the track a lot.

“I was sliding all over the place for the first three laps went over track limits, so none of those laps counted.

“I started to get really nervous that I was going to even be able to put in a lap.

“I had to back it down a little bit and as the session went on, and the tyres got warmer and we got a little bit more grip, so I put together a really good lap.

“I was on the pole here last year and the pole this year was almost three seconds slower than last year, so the track is quite different but at least from where I was sitting, it was a very dramatic qualifying session.”
