Kubica to drive for High Class Racing in Bahrain

Danish squad High Class Racing has confirmed that Poland’s Robert Kubica will race for the team at the upcoming Bapco 6 Hours and Bapco 8 Hours of Bahrain events, rounds five and six of this year’s FIA WEC.

The former F1 driver competed at the recent 24 Hours of Le Mans and was leading the LMP2 field with Team WRT until a cruel twist of fate saw their car stop on the final lap, leaving their sister car to win the event.

Kubica will be eager to make amends after the disappointment from Le Mans, joining Anders Fjordbach and Dennis Andersen behind the wheel of the No. 20 High Class Racing Oreca 07-Gibson for the WEC’s first-ever double-header.

Kubica said: “After the ELMS Championship and of course participation at Le Mans, I’m happy to join High Class Racing for the last two rounds of the WEC in Bahrain. Of course I know the team and my teammates Anders and Dennis… We’ll try to enjoy and achieve as strong a result as possible in those two rounds. I’m looking forward to rejoining the team again for the second time this year and let’s hope to achieve some good racing in the ProAm class.”

Round five of the WEC – the 6 Hours of Bahrain – will take place on Saturday 30 October and the WEC season-finale - the 8 Hours of Bahrain - will be staged the following weekend (Saturday 6 November).
