LMEM strengthens team with new head of communications

Le Mans Endurance Management [LMEM] has strengthened its team after hiring a new head of communications, Mathias Monge, who will be the driving force behind the development and delivery of the company’s communications strategy.

Under the LMEM umbrella, Mathias Monge will work primarily on the the FIA World Endurance Championship, as well as overseeing communications for the European Le Mans Series, Michelin Le Mans Cup and Asian Le Mans Series. The 40-year-old Frenchman will also work closely with the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO), creator and organiser of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Season 9 is a pivotal time for the FIA WEC as the championship prepares to welcome several prestigious manufacturers to its new Hypercar category over the next couple of years including Audi, Ferrari, Peugeot and Porsche. Alongside Toyota and Glickenhaus, who have already committed to Hypercar programmes, the future of endurance racing looks extremely promising.

Monge’s recruitment is, therefore, very timely as LMEM looks to expand its team as the WEC embarks on an exciting new era. Having founded his own communications agency, as well as working as communications director at both Nike and Lacoste, Monge – who has worked with icons, clubs and federations from around the world of sports, showcasing the brand’s innovations at the world’s largest sport events - is well placed to lead LMEM’s global communications.

FIA WEC CEO Frédéric Lequien: “It is a real pleasure to welcome Mathias to the LMEM family.  Similar to myself, Mathias has joined LMEM at a time when the WEC is going through a period of significant change and his vast experience in heading up communications for global companies will be hugely beneficial as we enter this exciting new chapter.”

Mathias Monge: “I am thrilled to join the LMEM team, a hugely-successful company with rich endurance racing heritage. LMEM successfully strikes the right balance between heritage and innovation – and it is very exciting to be part of a company that has so much potential. I also feel honoured to be able to join the team at a time when I can help to contribute in writing a new chapter in sportscar history.”
