Update from FIA WEC on COVID-19 testing in Portimão
Following the in-depth health protocols and testing prior to round two of the FIA WEC at the Algarve International Circuit, Fabio Scherer from the No. 22 United Autosports USA LMP2 entry has tested positive for COVID-19.
Wayne Boyd is on standby in Portugal to join Phil Hanson and Paul Di Resta in the No. 22 Oreca 07 pending his COVID-19 test result taken this morning.
Scherer has not been in contact with any other members from the United Autosports USA team or from the FIA World Endurance Championship paddock and has now entered self-isolation.
With assistance of the local organiser of the 8 Hours of Portimão, local health authorities and the FIA COVID-19 Delegate, a full track and trace initiative has been undertaken.
