Pecom Racing pushing 100% for success
Starworks Motorsport may have already laid their hands on the FIA Endurance Trophy for LMP2 teams after the 6 Hours of Fuji, but honours for second place in the classification are still to be claimed. Argentinian team Pecom Racing are tied level in second place with the ADR-Delta team and both will be anxious to secure the best possible result in this last round of the FIA World Endurance Championship, the 6 Hours of Shanghai.
Luis Perez Companc, Pierre Kaffer and Nicolas Minassian will be at the wheel of the No.49 Oreca 03 Nissan and the battle in the competitive and well-balanced LMP2 class will be as intense as always. The Pecom car took its first victory of the 2012 championship at the 6 Hours of Bahrain, but a steady points-scoring performance throughout the season has led them to the 129 points they currently hold.
Pierre Kaffer said of the forthcoming 6 Hours of Shanghai: “I think the LMP2 class is very tight, just as Formula 3 has been in the past and everyone is pushing hard. These races are more like sprint races than endurance, and we have to push 100% for the whole six hours. This is why the class is so exciting; nothing is decided until the last pit stop – as we saw at the 6 Hours of Bahrain and Fuji. The season has been very good so far…we need another race now like Bahrain!”
