Porsche selects Manthey to run GT3 cars for 2024 FIA WEC season

Porsche has announced that it will use German-based team Manthey to run two of its Porsche 911 GT3 R entries in the LMGT3 class of next year’s FIA WEC.

Manthey successfully fielded two Porsche 911 RSR in the LMGTE Pro class of the WEC on behalf of Porsche for ten years. In their first year of racing together (2013), they clinched class victory at Le Mans. Two more followed, so that together with its debut victory in 1999, Manthey now has four Le Mans victories with a GT car and a total of five world championship titles in the WEC.

Porsche has chosen Manthey for sporting, strategic and historical reasons. Driver and team entry will be announced at a later date.

Thomas Laudenbach, Vice President of Porsche Motorsport, commented: “Our choice fell on Manthey for a number of reasons. Besides the fact that it is a subsidiary, several other factors speak in favour of Manthey: the team is very familiar with the Porsche 911 GT3 R from DTM races and major endurance classics, among others. Moreover, Manthey is closely acquainted with the special characteristics of the FIA WEC thanks to many years of factory racing with the Porsche 911 RSR.”

Nicolas Raeder, Managing Director of Manthey Racing GmbH added: “I am proud that we are returning to the WEC, expanding our GT3 programme next year. We have already been able to celebrate some successes in the WEC with Porsche and have a lot of experience and know-how regarding the tracks and procedures. The 2024 season will be exciting and I am very glad that we will be back at Le Mans.”
