Portimao FP2: Kobayashi fastest in Hypercar; Vector Sport on top in LMP2

Kobayashi's countryman Ryo Hirakawa took the quickest time for the No.8 Toyota GR010 Hybrid Hypercar to place second.

Vector Sport topped the times in LMP2 following a stunning lap by Gabriel Aubry, while Daniel Serra stayed as the benchmark in LMGTE Am for Kessel Racing.

Hypercar

• Kamui Kobayashi posts fastest lap of second Free Practice session with a 1m32.155s in the No.7 Toyota to go six tenths faster than FP1 best set by No.8 Toyota
• Ryo Hirakawa makes it a Japanese 1-2 as he stops the clocks at 1m33.114s
• Ferrari AF Corse again place third and fourth as Miguel Molina in No.50 Ferrari 499P gets to within 0.2s of the second placed Toyota.
• Antonio Giovinazzi fastest in No.51 car as ex-F1 ace ends session in fourth position just over a tenth of a second adrift of sister car
• But his team is just bettered by James Calado in final moments as 2022 LMGTE Pro champion goes slightly faster with a 1m33.455s best.
• No.94 Peugeot TotalEnergies 9X8 is fifth as ‘The Lion’ starts to roar back after difficult Sebring event.
• Nico Mueller’s 1m33.829s lap is made after car misses first part of session after a leak is found on the car after FP1.
• Fastest Porsche Penske 963 is sixth as Dane Cameron peaks with a 1m34.076s lap in No.5 car.
• Peugeot sandwich the Porsche as No.93 9X8 is seventh as Paul di Resta sets a 1m34.101 laps.
• Glickenhaus shows increased pace as a 1m34 142 lap from Romain Dumas sees team ahead of fellow American entrants Cadillac Racing for most of session
• The all-new Cadillac V-Series.R continues to gather experience on first visit to Portimao as Richard Westbrook sets an initial quickest lap of 1m34.309s
• But Alex Lynn goes faster in final minutes to elevate the No.2 car in to eighth position, demoting the Glickenhaus in to ninth.
• Tenth in Hypercar is the second Porsche 963 as Kevin Estre sets best lap.
• Floyd Vanwall place 11^th as Tom Dillmann again sets the pace within the team

LMP2

• Vector Sport take rare LMP2 top spot as Gabriel Aubry sets a stunning 1m34.609s lap.
• French ace heads Inter Europol Competition Oreca-Gibson by a mere 0.082s
• The Polish entered Inter Europol lap is set by Fabio Scherer as team continue to be a threat at front of the class.
• FP1 fastest car, the No.63 Prema car is third as Mirko Bortolotti continues to be one of quickest on track. Italian peaks on a 1m34.837s

LMGTE Am

• Daniel Serra again sets the pace in LMGTE Am with the Kessel Racing Ferrari 488 GTE Evo
• Brazilian tops his FP1 time with a 1m41.196 flyer 
• Richard Mille Racing Ferrari 488 GTE Evo is second as Lilou Wadoux impresses with a peak lap of 1m41.255s
• That time is just 0.046s off Serra's ultimate best.
• Ferrari places 1-2-3 as the No.54 AF Corse Ferrari is third
• Davide Rigon sets a 1m41.319 quickest lap ensuring that the top three are covered by just 0.110s

The third FP session is scheduled to start at 11:15 local time on Saturday.
