Saucy and Sato remain on-board at United Autosports for 2025
LMGT3 category front-runner United Autosports has confirmed that Grégoire Saucy and Marino Sato will return for a second consecutive season of FIA World Endurance Championship competition with the British outfit next year.
Swiss star Saucy – known for his single-seater accolades, including the 2021 Formula Regional European Championship crown and multiple podium appearances in the FIA Formula 3 Championship – tallied a trio of fourth-place finishes with United Autosports behind the wheel of the #59 McLaren LMGT3 EVO during his maiden campaign of endurance racing in 2024.
“I’m very happy to continue this adventure with McLaren and United Autosports,” the 24-year-old enthused. “This year, we made a lot of progress together from the beginning to the end of the season and scored some good results. It was an incredible experience to race at the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the first time, and at many other new tracks around the world. I'm looking forward to getting back into the car next season.”
In the sister #95 McLaren, Japanese ace Sato – who finished runner-up in the European Le Mans Series’ LMP2 class with United Autosports in his debut season in sportscars in 2023 – is keen to maintain the momentum of his first FIA WEC podium, achieved courtesy of third place in the 6 Hours of São Paulo earlier this year.
“I want to thank every single member of the team, everyone who is supporting me and working with me to make this happen, and especially Richard [Dean – CEO] for his trust,” the 25-year-old remarked. “I’m very excited to continue our journey together in FIA WEC for a second season, and my third as a member of the United Autosports family. We’ve shown strong progress through 2024, and in 2025, we are working to win. I can’t wait to start!”
Over the course of last season, United Autosports secured pole position in Bahrain – heading up the first front row lockout in FIA WEC LMGT3 history – as well as six further top five qualifying results and nine top ten finishes, including the aforementioned rostrum in Brazil. Co-founder Dean is hopeful of adding to that success over the coming months.
“Grégoire and Marino are extremely talented racing drivers and incredibly valuable members of our team,” he commented. “Their work and time this year, both in and out of the car, has been hugely important in the development of the FIA WEC project with McLaren Automotive, so it’s fantastic to have them on-board for what is set to be a very exciting 2025 season.”
