Spa 6H 4 Hour Report: Toyota continues to dominate Spa while Aston Martin leads LMGTE Pro
Below are the main headlines following four hours of racing at the TOTAL 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, which has seen very variable weather conditions.
LMP1
• Toyota Gazoo Racing No. 7 car continues to lead the headline LMP1 category as Kamui Kobayashi hands the Toyota TS050 HYBRID over to team-mate Jose Maria Lopez
• No. 8 Toyota currently 45s behind the No. 7 entry now with Kazuki Nakajima at the wheel
• Pole-sitters Rebellion Racing moves up to third third as Gustavo Menezes replaces Norman Nato and makes up time loss earlier in the race due to high tyre pressure
• ByKolles Racing Team drops to fourth with electrical problems
LMGTE Pro
• The lead in LMGTE Pro has been traded between Porsche, Ferrari and Aston Martin with another spell of heavy rain benefiting the Italian team for much of the third hour. The varied weather conditions have split teams’ strategies and there has been much movement up and down the leader board for all three manufacturers.
• Aston Martin Racing’s Alex Lynn in the No.97 took the class lead just before the end of the fourth hour and now holds a narrow lead of 1.7s over the No.92 Porsche GT Team entry of Michael Christensen.
• In third place is Alessandro Pier Guidi in the No.51 Ferrari is nearing the end of a marathon stint of more than 4 hours, with James Calado poised to take over from him to the end.

LMP2
• Racing Team Nederland continues to command the LMP2 class with Job Van Uitert replacing Giedo Van Der Garde in the ORECA 07 Gibson to produce another near faultless driver
• The leading No. 29 car given a 5 second stop-and-go penalty but now commands a 29 lead over United Autosports
• Signatech Alpine Elf closing in on second placed United Autosports with Thomas Laurent at the wheel of the Aline A470 – Gibson
• There is little change in the rest of the LMP2 field, with High Class Racing and Cool Racing fourth and fifth respectively
LMGTE Am
• LMGTE Am has also seen multiple cars at its head over the last two hours and is wide open with a number of different potential winners.
• The No.83 AF Corse Ferrari of Nicklas Nielsen holds a 6.5s lead over Team Project 1’s No.57 with Felipe Fraga at the wheel.
• In third place is the No.77 Dempsey Proton Racing Porsche which is being chased hard by the TF Sport Aston Martin Vantage.
• A further rain storm has now passed and the sun is out but conditions remain unpredictable.
