WEC Silverstone – in facts and figures!
In only one week’s time the FIA WEC’s season opener – the 4 Hours of Silverstone – will get underway at the home of British motorsport.
To celebrate the start of Season 8, we take a look at some of our favourite Silverstone stats - exclusively provided to the WEC by its friendly statistician Alex Harrison (@WECDATA on Twitter).
1. To date, 216 cars have raced 127,513 miles at Silverstone – an average of 590 miles covered per car
2. Home marque Aston Martin has scored the most pole positions at Silverstone, starting from the front of LMGTE Pro twice and four times in LMGTE Am

3. A total of 11 British drivers have qualified on pole in the UK including the Alex and Martin Brundle pairing in LMP2, Sam Bird in both GTE Classes and Mike Conway for the last two years
4. Silverstone became the first and only WEC circuit to see four brands win outright in 2018. Audi has won three times (2012, 2013 and 2015), Toyota twice (2014 and 2017), Porsche once (2016) and Rebellion once (2018)
5. Team LNT will take part in its first 4-hour race with the Ginetta G60-LT-P1. The car was the fastest at the pre-season Prologue, passing speed traps at 313km/h. The No. 5 and No. 6 cars ended the Prologue just 1.1s adrift of Toyota Gazoo Racing’s best time

6. Silverstone has seen 16 different drivers win outright, the second most at any WEC circuit behind Le Mans. Past winners represent Germany, Switzerland, France, Denmark, UK, Japan and USA
7. Every year except 2012 has seen a British driver on the podium… that’s nine in total across three categories.
