6 Hours of Fuji EoT and BoP announced
Ahead of the 6 Hours of Fuji, the joint FIA and ACO Endurance Committee has announced revisions to both the Equivalence of Technology (EoT) for LMP1 cars and Balance of Performance (BoP) for the LMGTE classes.
With the intention of closing the performance gap between the Toyota TS050 HYBRIDs and the non-hybrid LMP1 entries, Toyota Gazoo Racing has been given a 26kg weight increase and has also lost its two laps per stint advantage over the non-hybrids.
The TS050 HYBRID will now run with a minimum weight of 904kg compared to the non-hybrids which are 818kg (normally aspirated engines) and 833kg (turbocharged engines).
BMW given boost for Japanese round
For the fourth round of the Super Season, and using data gathered at Spa and Silverstone for the automatic BoP system used by the FIA and ACO for the WEC, BMW has been given a BoP break ahead of the 6 Hours of Fuji.
In LMGTE Pro, the two BMW Team MTEK BMW M8 GTEs will be 20kg lighter along with an increase in turbo boost pressures across all RPM levels. Additionally, the cars have been given a 2-litre increase in fuel capacity.
Conversely, both the Ford GTs and Porsche 911 RSRs have been slowed with Ford receiving an increase of 18kg weight and slightly less boost while Porsche has an increase of 2kg in weight and a 0.3 mm smaller air restrictor. Both competitors have one litre less fuel in their fuel capacity allowance.
The Aston Martins and Ferraris in GTE Pro receive no mandated adjustments for Fuji.
The 2017-spec Porsche 911 RSRs and Aston Martin Vantage GTEs in LMGTE Am have been handed weight increases of 10kg and 5kg respectively.
